»Waterworks«

The Baltic Sea Philharmonic with a programme inspired by water – watch the concert at the Elbphilharmonie Concert Cinema. Video available until 28 Feb 2018.

Concert stream available until 28 February 2018.

Founded by Kristjan Järvi in 2016, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic is a unique ensemble formed by musicans from countries of the Baltic Sea region – from Scandanavia, Germany, Eastern Europe and Russia. At Elbphilharmonie Summer, the orchestra performs a programme that celebrates the life-giving essence of water – and reveals new perspectives on the famous classical pieces like Handel’s »Water Music«. The evening in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall is complemented by other inspirational pieces, including Philip Glass’s »Aguas da Amazonia«, where the founding father of minimal music depicts the nine tributaries of the Amazon in music.

»It’s not just about making music. We’re creating a movement that brings people together from Norway to Russia«

Kristjan Järvi
