A look back at Sophie Hunger’s »Reflektor« Festival

A fabulous weekend with singer-songwriter Sophie Hunger – featuring plenty of pop acts, jazz, orchestral music, film and literature

»Curating my own festival here is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done!« said a very happy Sophie Hunger on the final day of her widely praised »Reflektor« festival at the Elbphilharmonie. Over the course of four days, the Swiss artist brought together a vibrant mix of acts from the worlds of pop, electro and jazz, all taking to the Elbphilharmonie stage at her invitation. Hunger herself performed several times too – presenting magnificent orchestral renditions of her songs in the Grand Hall, reading from her new book in the more intimate Recital Hall, as a film music composer for children, and joining friends like Dino Brandão and Erik Truffaz as a special guest. The festival’s first-class line-up also featured acclaimed artists such as La Force, Soap&Skin and Patrick Watson.

A short video round-up (above) captures some of the highlights – complete with interviews, emotional backstage moments and the joyful energy of the festival crowd.

»That was so good. I would happily come back every year and put on a festival like this!«
