Musical Landmarks

Antonín Dvořák‘s Violin Concerto is very dear to Hilary Hahn’s heart. The star violinist recorded it on CD during the coronavirus pandemic, drawing on its beautiful melodies and foot-tapping rhythms to help regain her strength and courage as an artist during those difficult times. It was a highly celebrated recording and a landmark moment in Hahn’s career. Since then, Dvořák’s exhilarating and demanding concerto has become a staple of her repertoire. For her ProArte concert, Hilary will be joined by the world-class Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. After the interval, these exceptional musicians will honour another landmark in musical history as they perform Sergej Prokofiev’s unforgettable ballet music for »Romeo and Juliet«, now one of the composer’s most well-loved and most regularly performed works.
