With body and soul

»Dvořák with cold hands is murder on the muscles,« reveals Gautier Capuçon in an interview with Tagesspiegel. And it’s not difficult to imagine how this work, which is peppered with technical challenges and calls for an extremely present and passionate sound, not only requires many years studying the cello, but also a significant amount of time warming up. The French cellist’s inspirational force comes in part from this holistic approach and from the way he sees himself not only as a musician, but also to a degree as a sportsman.
