Description

Melingo is one of the most vibrant characters of the Argentine tango scene – a wild poet whose sensual compositions emit the bustling vibe of his hometown Buenos Aires. The press has named him the »Tom Waits of Tango« and »the man who’s making tango seriously cool«.

Melingo himself calls his music »proto-tango«: he wants to take Tango Argentino back to its roots in the dodgy quarters of Buenos Aires. His lyrics, written in Lunfardo, the »thieves’ slang« of the Argentine capital, tell stories of shady characters, dubious schemes and the daily absurdities of his barrio. With his unmistakable appreciation for drama and a pinch of extravagance, Melingo creates powerful musical images through his compositions, reminiscent of gangster films or adventure novels.

He entices his audience to follow him into Buenos Aires’ back alleys at night and the dimly lit bars of the city.

In this concert, Melingo will present his new album »Anda«, released in September 2016 by renowned record label World Village.
