Elbphilharmonie for Connoisseurs 1

Description

The subscription for connoisseurs combines momentous works of recent music history. And as the Elbphilharmonie attaches special importance to such music in its programmes, starting with the 2018/19 season there will be two different connoisseur subscriptions. One of the most frequently-performed composers of the 21st century is Sir George Benjamin, who can be heard no fewer than three times in the first connoisseur subscription series: on two of these evenings he appears in person, conducting his own works. And with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, we welcome one of today's most eminent pianists for modern music to the Grand Hall: György Ligeti's virtuoso piano études, influenced by West African and Indonesian music, appear on his concert programme alongside Bartók's.
