The magnificent Aurora Orchestra from London opens the Elbphilharmonie Subscription 3 series with a concert performed standing and from memory. Mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená then slips into the title role of Handel’s magical opera »Alcina«, before rising star Klaus Mäkelä guides France’s best orchestra through Mahler’s epic Resurrection Symphony.
