The Vienna Philharmonic, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic: experience some of Europe’s best orchestras in this subscription series. The programme features Olivier Messiaen’s popular Turangalîla-Symphonie, symphonies by Schumann and Brahms, and excerpts from Wagner’s »Götterdämmerung«. Guest soloists include Vilde Frang, who is known for her soulful violin playing, and the subtle and sophisticated pianist Maria João Pires. Mitsuko Uchida closes the series with Beethoven’s three final piano sonatas.
