Description

It’s precisely such felicitous combinations that produce truly great musical moments: maestro Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen have been a dream team since 2004, and they have regularly demonstrated their impressive mettle in concerts given at the Laeiszhalle. As in the Elbphilharmonie’s opening season, the orchestra’s three concerts are divided between the two concert halls in Hamburg.

With their appearances at the Elbphilharmonie, Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen continue their project of taking a fresh and exciting look at famous symphonies. They combine Brahms’s Fourth Symphony with a Prokofiev violin  concerto in which the fantastic Viktoria Mullova plays the solo part.

In the second programme conducted by Järvi, devoted entirely to symphonic and song composer Franz Schubert, we hear celebrated baritone and Schubert expert Matthias Goerne. Equally powerful and prominent voices can be heard in Haydn’s dramatic oratorio and tone painting »The Seasons«, which invites us to an edifying musical visit to the country under the baton of Hans-Christoph Rademann at the Laeiszhalle.
