Walk-Through Soundscapes

Swiss artist Zimoun creates sound sources from simple objects such as cardboard boxes and metal buckets, grouping them in their hundreds throughout a space and setting them in motion using the simplest of mechanical systems. The result is a fascinating three-dimensional swarm of sound which, despite the functional simplicity of its individual elements, develops highly complex patterns of behaviour and sonic textures. Alongside their sonic and compositional dimension, Zimoun’s works offer numerous connections to the present day – from increasing automation and our throwaway society to the encounter between nature and technology, as well as the absurdities and excesses of our time. Created especially for the Recital Hall, his new immersive installation can be experienced during the opening weekend of »Elbphilharmonie Visions«. Admission is free for visitors attending the »Elbphilharmonie Visions« concert that evening.
