The power of music overcomes cultural borders and connects people. Cellist Yo-Yo Ma fills this old wisdom with new life, together with his Silk Road Ensemble. Made up of performers and composers from more than 20 countries, the Silk Road Ensemble was formed by Yo-Yo Ma in 2000. He named it after the ancient trade route that connects Europe with Asia. US-American film director Morgan Neville has now made a documentary about this exceptional project. The film will be shown in Hamburg during Yo-Yo Ma’s time as Artist in Residence and during the Opening Festival of the Elbphilharmonie.
