Description

In her debut conducting the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Anna Rakitina presents a program that explores the art of variation in a wide variety of facets. In his »Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis«, Ralph Vaughan Williams weaves an impressive soundscape from a Renaissance melody, while Tchaikovsky lends the cello virtuosic brilliance in his »Rococo Variations«. The soloist for the evening is French cellist Edgar Moreau.

] The grand finale is Antonín Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony – a work of great drama and emotional depth that lends an unmistakable musical voice to the aspirations for freedom of its time. A thrilling concert evening balancing tradition, innovation, and symphonic passion.
