Description

Under the baton of Sylvain Cambreling, this special concert at the Elbphilharmonie brings together George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto, featuring pianist Boris Giltburg, and Mozart’s Requiem – two works that transcend boundaries in very different ways.

Gershwin’s concerto bridges the world of the concert hall with the energy of jazz and Broadway. In the second half, Mozart’s Requiem is presented in a new light: building on the unfinished masterpiece, a world premiere by Belgian composer Fabrizio Cassol carries the thoughts and sounds of the Requiem into the present. Featuring renowned soloists and the EuropaChorAkademie, the evening bridges the past and the future, this world and the next – a musical glimpse into the unknown that invites the audience to pause and listen further.
