Oper am Gänsemarkt: reloaded

»Dido, die Unglückselige«

Tickets from €16.00 Limited tickets still available!

Very much in the style of Hamburg's old opera house on Gänsemarkt (1678-1738), the audience at this concert enjoys a mixture of different works, cultures and musical eras. The heavily cut story of Dido, the unhappy Queen of Carthage, and Trojan prince Aeneas is told by three great artists: Roman poet Virgil, London composer Purcell and his Hamburg opposite number Christoph Graupner. The stage set for the operatic action that is projected behind the orchestra is the product of a cooperation between Hamburg and Osnabrück school students, working together with the well-known Bremen collective URBANSCREEN.
