Seemingly effortless

She is one of the world’s few female chief conductors. Having made it with apparent ease to the top of what has traditionally been a male domain, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla is now a model for young female conductors. And she is without doubt one of the most exciting artists of our time. The cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason has also become something of a role model. A few years ago he was the first black musician to win the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, and he is now well on the way to becoming a high-profile international musician.
