With the newly founded Elbphilharmonie ensembles, it is not the stars of the music world who are sitting on the stage of the Grand Hall or the Recital Hall – it is Hamburg residents like you and me. For young and old, with or without previous musical knowledge – with different cultural backgrounds and up to three generations of people have an opportunity to come together and make music with enthusiasm and zeal in a variety of line-ups. Take part in shaping the Elbphilharmonie.

Long Night of Singing

Singing makes you happy! Scientists proved that a long time ago. And since happiness shared is happiness doubled, the Elbphilharmonie is inviting choirs from Hamburg and the surrounding region to another »Long Night of Singing« in 2018, after a successful first edition.

Whether it is gospel, jazz or motet – all styles and forms of music are welcome at the »Long Night of Singing«.

At the »Long Night of Singing« the evening begins with music in front of the Elbphilharmonie, followed by choral singing in the Recital Hall, in the foyers, on the Plaza and finally with a sea of voices, formed of both choir and audience members, in the Grand Hall.

The following jury will select the participating choirs: Christoph Lieben-Seutter, General & Artistic Director Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle; Anke Fischer, Head of Education Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle; Professor Dr Christoph Schönherr, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg; Professor Gudrun Schröfel, Mädchenchor Hannover; Doris Vetter, Chorverband Hamburg e.V.; Hans-Jürgen Wulf, National Church Music Director of the Nordkirche. Frieder Bernius from the Kammerchor Stuttgart assumes the role of music director.
