PHOTO SHOOT IN THE ELBPHILHARMONIE FOYER
Fotografin Sophie Wolter
Why are there pictures of Hamburg people on the »Concerts for Hamburg« posters?
The idea behind the concert series »Concerts for Hamburg« was to make it clear soon after the opening of the new concert hall on the Elbe that the Elbphilharmonie's concert programme is open to everyone, and particularly to the people of Hamburg. One major selling point for the »Concerts for Hamburg« is the entertaining programmes at affordable prices: an hour of classical music with tickets starting at 8 euros!
It's a good idea to introduce people to music – classical music is not for everyone. I have the feeling that the concerts are quite a hit with Hamburg people.
With over 20,000 tickets and a varied programme, the third series of »Concerts for Hamburg« begins in June 2019, featuring lots of special concerts at the usual highest level.
If you'd like to order tickets, you can register by 29 March 2019 on konzerte-fuer-hamburg.de or on elbphilharmonie.de. You can also register in person at the »Concerts for Hamburg« tour in Hamburg's public libraries. Click here for an overview of all the stops on the tour. (PDF download).

List of participating libraries (530.1 KB) (541.4 KB)One of the Elbphilharmonie's main aims is for the concert hall to be perceived and used as a location open to everybody, and especially for all Hamburg people. It was this that prompted us to set up the »Concerts for Hamburg«, so it was only logical to reflect the idea in our communication and advertising for the concerts. So we set out to find Hamburg faces that make their mark on the area they live in.
I love the Elbphilharmonie and I love Hamburg
For the 2018 and 2019 campaigns, people from every district of the city took the opportunity to show themselves on the »Concerts for Hamburg« posters.

For me the Elbphilharmonie offers sensational music and sensational acoustics.

For the first big campaign in 2017 – before the Elbphilharmonie was opened – we looked for faces that are fairly well-known in their particular part of town: pharmacist, bar owner, kiosk owner or baker. Keen music lovers from many districts took part: Altona, Barmbek, Bergedorf, Billstedt, Bramfeld, Eidelstedt, Harburg, Langenhorn, Lurup, Neugraben, Schnelsen, Steilhoop, Wandsbek and Wilhelmsburg.
For advance booking, a »Concerts for Hamburg« bus and a little Italian »Ape« three-wheeler toured Hamburg to give residents the chance to buy tickets locally.
The Elbphilharmonie is for everyone. The »Concerts for Hamburg« give up to 60,000 people from all over the city the chance to share unforgettable musical experiences. I feel certain that these concerts will generate interest in all the other first-class concerts on the Elbphilharmonie programme.
