The 10-Million Mark

In June the Elbphilharmonie cracks the 10-million-visitor record. Celebrations take place on the spot with sweet buns and music.

10 million visitors to the Plaza and two million concertgoers: even visionaries didn't dare dream of so much success before the Elbphilharmonie Plaza opened its doors on 4 November 2016.

To mark the 10 millionth visitor, we invite Hamburg residents and visitors alike to a special celebration on Friday, 7 June 2019, when both the Plaza as well as the foyers and the Grand Hall will be open from 13:00 to 18:00.

The Elbphilharmonie has become a tremendous success with the public, and we'll be celebrating with quite a crowd. The Plaza party that marks the beginning of the Whitsun weekend will be opened at 13:30 with words of welcome from Dr Carsten Brosda, Hamburg's Senator for Culture & Media, who will be greeting the 10-millionth guest together with General & Artistic Director Christoph Lieben-Seutter.

The Afternoon's Programme

  • 13:00: The party gets underway with music played by the »ensemble reflektor«
  • 13:30: Speech and prize-giving for the 10-millionth Plaza guest by Dr Carsten Brosda, Hamburg's Senator for Culture & Media, and the Elbphilharmonie's General & Artistic Director Christoph Lieben-Seutter
  • 13:50: Music by »Luciel«
  • 15:00: Music by »ensemble reflektor«
  • 16:45: Music by »NuHussel Orchestra«

As a highlight as part of the celebrations, visitors will have the chance to take a look at the foyers and the Grand Hall free of charge – a special chance to discover the interior architecture until 17:00.

There will be as many Franzbrötchen as you can eat – a sweet bun that's a local speciality, donated by »The Westin Hamburg« hotel, and drinks at attractive prices. And throughout the afternoon, of course, you can enjoy the fabulous panoramic view of the city and its docks – if we're lucky, in beautiful weather!
