Reflektor Manfred Eicher: Arvo Pärt

Some of the Estonian composer's most important works in a special concert portrait

Video available until 03 Feb 2021

The fact that Arvo Pärt is now one of the most frequently-performed living composers is largely the doing of Manfred Eicher and his ECM label back in the 1980s. Pärt's work »Tabula Rasa« made a deep impression on Manfred Eicher at the time, and its release on ECM was the recording of a lifetime. And the record also won many people over to Arvo Pärt's spiritual music, establishing a fan club that is still growing.

The concert portrait in the Elbphilharmonie features several of Pärt's most important works, performed by artists who are all absolute Pärt experts: the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste.
