New Year’s Concert from the Elbphilharmonie

Celebrate the start of the New Year with Johann Strauss II's »Fledermaus«

Video available until 02 Jan 2020

Manfred Honeck, the former director of music at the Stuttgart State Opera, now principal conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, brings »Die Fledermaus« by Johann Strauss II to the Elbphilharmonie. The expert of Viennese operetta has selected the ideal music for an effervescent New Year’s celebration. This year, the classic operetta about the champagne-fuelled festivities at Prinz Orlofsky’s palace comes to the Grand Hall for the first time.

Together with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, a line-up of talented singer-actors and the NDR Chor Honeck portrays the »irresponsible merriment that shows how upside-down the world is« (Karl Kraus).

We had a live broadcast of this New Year's concert from the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall. Happy New Year!
