Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester / Lorenzo Viotti

With works by Dvořák, Debussy and Stravinsky.

Whether gentle or virtuosic, Dvořák's music is almost tailor-made for French cellist Gautier Capuçon. He now presents the Czech composer's famous Cello Concerto in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall, with competent support from the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, an ensemble for outstanding young talents that was founded in 1986 by the legendary conductor Claudio Abbado.

In addition to Dvořák's Cello Concerto, the orchestra plays the tempestuous overture to Verdi's crime opera »La forza del destino«, lights up the impressionistic dream world of Debussy's »Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune« and, last but not least, makes the concert hall tremble with the archaic force of Stravinsky's »Le sacre du printemps«.
