Elbphilharmonie Concert Cinema 2018

Five concerts will be broadcast live from the Grand Hall on a cinema screen on the Elbphilharmonie forecourt from 27 August-2 September.

This summer the Elbphilharmonie Concert Cinema returns to the forecourt of the Elbphilharmonie for a second round. Five concerts will be broadcast live from the Grand Hall on to a huge open-air LED screen – the »Cube« provided by Elbphilharmonie Principal Sponsor SAP: orchestral concerts, jazz, world music and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra's »Opening Night« on 1 September.

Change of programme: The season opening of the Elbphilharmonie on 2 September will regrettably not be broadcast live due to legal reasons. In its place, a repeat broadcast of the NDR »Opening Night« will be screened on this evening on the forecourt.

Light refreshments will be on offer from two hours before the start of each concert on the forecourt. Seat cushions are provided (first come, first serve) and admission is free!

The screenings will be accompanied by live presentations, video clips, talks with artists and introductions to the concerts. NDR Kultur radio station will be broadcasting the »Opening Night« (1 September) live and accompanying the Concert Cinema evenings with live commentaries on the forecourt.

  • Monday, 27 August, to Sunday, 2 September
  • Five live / two repeat broadcasts
  • Begin: 20:00 every day (exception: 1 Sept, 19:00)
  • Free admission
  • Seat cushions available
  • Food & drink (from two hours before start of concert)
  • Live commentary and interviews start 30 minutes before livestreams

The SAP »Cube«

Exactly one year ago, the Elbphilharmonie Concert Cinema made its debut, made possible by SAP, principal sponsor of the Elbphilharmonie. Once again, SAP makes its »Cube« – a digital adventure area with a huge LED exterior screen – available for the screenings on the forecourt. Complementing the excellent sound supplied by the Elbphilharmonie technicians, the »Cube« will provide crystal-clear, high-resolution images from the Grand Hall. The projection cabin is open to visitors during the day as well, and showcases the Elbphilharmonie's diverse programme.

This year's Elbphilharmonie Concert Cinema is made possible with the support from principal sponsors SAP, BMW and Julian Bär as well as from the Stiftung Elbphilharmonie.
