A Fabulous Party!
Happy birthday boys and girls and many other guests celebrated the 4th of November on the Plaza.

Only one year of the Elbphilharmonie and already 4,235,000 visitors! About 17,000 guests turned up for the anniversary on the Plaza on Saturday to celebrate with the Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz, Hamburg’s Minister for Culture and Media, Dr Carsten Brosda, and the General and Artistic Director of the Elbphilharmonie, Christoph Lieben-Seutter. Over the course of the day 250 birthday boys and girls came to visit, each receiving a small gift on arrival. Beat’n Blow, Trio Macchiato and the gypsy swing ensemble Danube’s Banks provided live music, while Hotel Louis C. Jacob donated a birthday cake for all the guests.

The entire Plaza was decorated with white balloons:

170 birthday boys and girls turned up for the official birthday ceremony and were invited to take part in a raffle.

...and these were the lucky winners:

On this day, the first anniversary of the Elbphilharmonie, I want to express my special gratitude to the architects for creating not just an exceptional building, but also one that fits so perfectly into the local landscape that it’s already impossible to imagine life in Hamburg without the Elbphilharmonie!
The Mayor of Hamburg, Olaf Scholz, cut the birthday cake that was donated by the Hotel Louis C. Jacob.
