1. Internationales Musikfest Hamburg • Schubertiade

Don´t let yourself become intoxicated, don´t let yourself be seduced, or soon you will be caught floundering from a hook! This is the warning message in Schubert´s song »The Trout« and is equally valid for fish or foolish girls (or boys) or for political rebels such as Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart who wrote the text. Even so, the mind might be strong, but the ears are weak. It is simply impossible not to be seduced by Schubert´s »Trout Quintet« - a composition inspired by the song. The stream of the piano is simply too alluring, the violin part beckons all too enticingly, not to mention the coaxing tones of the cello. Niklas Schmidt, Hochschule Professor, cellist of Trio Fontenay for many years and presenter of the FontenayClassics Kammerkonzerte, is himself at the centre of the music scene in Hamburg, and has asked prominent colleagues, such as the spectacular violinist Tanja Becker-Bender and the experienced pianist, Ralf Gothóni, to join him for this musical evening. In addition to Schubert´s »Trout« they present the Piano Trio in B-Flat Major, which is itself also based on a song, and which Schumann once described as »tender and lyrical«.
