When the new Elbphilharmonie opens its doors in May 2012, many leading German radio symphony orchestras will be present: the Symphony Orchestra of the North German Radio (NDR) as our »orchestra in residence« will find a new home in our building. You can profit from the partnership immediately: the Elbphilharmonie Concerts and the NDR Symphony Orchestra have put together a series of six concerts which can be booked as a subscription. Six concerts, or only four if you wish, of sensual and passionate music, to be given in the main hall of the Laeiszhalle.

The opening concert will be directed by Lothar Zagrosek and feature the Slovakian soprano Simona Saturova. Thereafter, in the course of the series, the world renowned clarinet player, Sabine Meyer, will present chamber music masterworks, while rising star Andris Nelsons (the successor of Simon Rattle) will conduct the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Finally Christoph Eschenbach will pay homage to Robert Schumann with a jubilee program.
