Jazz Piano
Four jazz concerts in the Kleiner Saal of the Laeiszhalle.
Jazz for a piano trio means: reduction to the maximum! The exposed three-way relationship of piano, bass, and percussion demands greatest agility, transparency, and especially virtuosity, because there´s no hiding behind any other sounds. Every member of the team is at the same time soloist, accompanist and rhythm section. This guarantees an intense exchange of ideas where creative sparks are sure to fly.
The direction is usually given by the man at the piano, and four such exemplary pianists will now make a guest appearance at the Laeiszhalle: Brad Mehldau who has been setting jazz standards since 1996 with his CD series »The Art of the Trio«, and Jacky Terrasson who is both subtle poet and explosive bundle of energy. Then there's the Israeli Yaron Herman who has conquered the international jazz scene within only a few years, and – last but not least – the Texan Robert Glasper who came to jazz from gospel music and brought it to the vicinity of hip hop.
In cooperation with Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion GmbH.
