Großer Saal

Grossersaal_head_595

The heart of the Laeiszhalle - the spot where the greatest symphonic orchestras of the world perform, the stars of classical and modern music appear, and famous conductors are at home - is called simply »Großer Saal,« (i.e. main hall). It is also the place where legendary rock musicians give their concerts when they are on tour, and where Hamburg's amateur orchestras and choirs appear. Two stage doors separate the visitor from the entirely different world of the back-stage area, where technicians and artists meet. All day long there is action backstage, in the rehearsal rooms, orchestral rooms, and artists' dressing rooms. Artists are at work, preparing for the evening performances.
